Watch Chris Crocker blink. Nothing more or nothing less is asked here. Among the democratic functionality of internet and you-tube a suggestion is made, to look at this young beautiful blond gay boy smiling and blinking at the camera for 4 seconds. 5,572,003 people in you tube watched this video already and still counting. This seductive sentimentality and power relation between the performer and the viewer, is here translated through the medium of painting, where a frame is printed on canvas and painted in a photorealistic manner, in a try to romanticize and glorify the moment. Asking again the viewer to watch the painting blink, it almost suggests to become witness of another miracle. A miracle coming out from a big tradition of spiritual imagery. The question here is how many of us, will and can actually see him blink again.
